Eligibility requirements
Successful applicants must:
- Plan to attend a vocational school or an accredited two- or four-year college/university.
- Be a SELCO member or the immediate family member of a SELCO member (SELCO employees and their immediate family are not eligible).
- Have a GED or cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- Provide an unofficial transcript/GED certificate.
- Have not previously received a SELCO scholarship.
Application
You’re looking ahead—and so are we, which is reflected in our two short-essay questions:
- Why are you pursuing this educational path, and where do you hope it will take you?
- How have your non-academic and life experiences set you up for future success?
Lane County students who want to be considered for the Richard Metzler Opportunity Scholarship will be asked to provide additional information in their short-essay responses (please see “Richard Metzler Opportunity Scholarship” section below).
Selection process & timeline
- Each application is reviewed by a minimum of two members of the Scholarship Selection Panel.
- No identifiable information (name, address, school, etc.) is included on the Selection Panel’s review materials.
- Scholarship recipients will be notified by May 6.
