Applying for a Classroom Makeover

Eligibility requirements

Grants are open to all K–12 educators across the 27 Oregon counties SELCO serves.

Application tips

  • Visualize the transformation: Paint a vivid picture of how your classroom will be transformed. Describe the changes you envision and how they will create a more effective learning environment for your students.
  • Focus on long-term impact: Explain how the makeover will have a lasting effect on your students’ learning experience. How will these changes continue to benefit students for years to come?
  • Be clear about budget needs: Carefully plan your budget to reflect the true costs of your classroom makeover. Be thorough and consider all necessary expenses, from materials to labor.
  • Get your team on board: Before submitting your application, make sure your principal is on board. Their support is crucial, as they can provide valuable insights and help align your project with broader school initiatives.
  • Dream big: This is your chance to create the classroom (or learning space) you’ve always imagined!

Scoring criteria

We review each application with an eye to the following:

  • Proposal clarity and vision: Does the application clearly describe the proposed makeover? Is there a compelling vision for how the classroom will be transformed?
  • Impact on students: Will the makeover have a lasting impact on students? Will it create a more inclusive and accessible learning environment?
  • Budget and feasibility: Is the budget detailed and feasible? Does it balance dreaming big with realistic expectations?
